SEKISUI KYDEX has developed a new 100% recyclable product for the EV market, specifically designed with sustainability and durability in mind. KYDEX® 1100UV with integral custom colour, including metallics, and UV resistance, is Underwriter Laboratories certified for UL 94 V-0 flammability and UL 746C f1 rating for UV exposure and water immersion.

KYDEX® 1100UV can be used for exterior component housings that require UV resistance and is suitable for outdoor and water immersion. With in-mold color, this advanced polymer material requires no additional postproduction processes, like painting.

"What is exciting about our new KYDEX® 1100UV is that it not only checks all the boxes for the Electric Vehicle (EV) charging market, but we are also seeing a reduction in production lead times, as well as significant cost savings per part due to the product’s great attributes," said John Martino, Western Regional Business Manager for SEKISUI KYDEX.

KYDEX® Thermoplastics allow for more design freedom than traditional materials, paving the way for complete customization by using pressure forming in combination with Infused Imaging™ technology. As an organization that realizes the importance of sustainability and a material innovator in the EV space, SEKISUI KYDEX is continuing its R&D efforts towards a next-generation material for charging station housings, with even higher heat characteristics and cold temperature impact ratings.
