Ticket Scanned, New Routes Planned for SEKISUI SPI

SEKISUI Polymer Innovations, LLC’s Mass Transit Business Manager job posting did not require speaking five languages, significant international business experience, or a dream to be immersed within different cultures all over the globe, but that’s exactly what the company got with Ruben Bake.

With new technologies evolving in the Mass Transit market to support the growth of the traveling global middle class, SEKISUI SPI is advancing the company’s international reach with the leadership of Ruben Bake. As Mass Transit Market Business Manager, Ruben will iterate SPI’s strategy for the growing Rail and Bus markets in Asia, Europe, and the Americas.

The global shift to travel faster, safer, with higher capacity, and better passenger experiences led SEKISUI SPI to search for someone with a vision to help the market adopt lighter weight, aesthetic, and sustainable materials. Born in a German-speaking household in Venezuela, and having lived in The Netherlands, Germany, Brazil, and the U.S., Ruben possesses a varied background and cultural understanding that will serve him well in this role. With experience in corporate strategy, global product management and marketing, and business-turnaround in record time, he is poised to chart new territory in Mass Transit at SEKISUI SPI, one of the fastest-growing markets for thermoplastics.

When asked about his thoughts on his new journey, Ruben said, “Let’s do this!” which captures the attitude and the spirit of SEKISUI SPI’s culture: “I started my career in plastics, and I'm very excited to go back. I think the opportunities to create new products and the design flexibility are endless, and I look forward to exploring how we can further expand in the Mass Transit market.”

Vice President of Global Commercial Strategy, Karen Brock Amoah stated, “Ruben will support the initiatives created by Rich Cort to expand our mass transit business globally and help our customers grow.” Rich will retire in March 2019.

Ruben holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and Master of Business Administration from the University of Delaware. His educational background includes Executive Education in Mergers and Acquisitions and Strategic Marketing from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management, respectively.
