SEKISUI SPI, manufacturer of KYDEX® Thermoplastics, will be renamed SEKISUI KYDEX, LLC on April 1, 2020.
With 30 years of shared history, SEKISUI Chemical acquired the KYDEX® brand in 1990 and they have been on a journey toward this culminating moment ever since.
When Ronn Cort became President and COO in 2012, he was presented an opportunity to work with SEKISUI Chemical more closely. “I wanted our customers and communities to experience the commitment to the environment and society that I saw at SEKISUI Chemical,” said Cort.
He was inspired by their one-hundred-year vision and values of Service, Speed, and Superiority:
Service: creating social, environmental and economic value through responsible business practices
Speed: accelerating innovation by taking on challenges, adapting to change and staying ahead of the times
Superiority: contributing to society by helping to solve social issues with superior technologies and quality
KYDEX® Thermoplastics are best known as specialized polymers manufactured with incredibly short lead times in industry-leading small production batches. Using the Quick Response Manufacturing (QRM) model to support the bespoke nature of new customer demands, SEKISUI KYDEX manufactures exactly what their customers want in the time and sizes that help them rapidly innovate and grow. KYDEX® Thermoplastics serve as sustainable solutions to alternative materials, ensuring a better environment for future generations.
The corporate values from SEKISUI Chemical are now embodied and emboldened in the company culture, along with the KYDEX® thermoplastics manufacturing process and service model. The key to combining these two brands is in the culture of the people who come to work at SEKISUI KYDEX. It is an environment where employees are friends who strive to give back to the communities in which they live and work and thrive on delivering more than their customers can imagine.
Together, they are SEKISUI KYDEX.
SEKISUI KYDEX takes quick actions that are never short sighted. Focused on creating solutions, services, and models that are responsive, SEKISUI KYDEX keeps the future of their employees, communities, and the planet at the forefront.
“With the support of SEKISUI Chemical, the KYDEX® brand is expanding its products and services for future generations. The significant investment in our manufacturing campuses enables and encourages us to develop new material solutions in collaboration with our partners and customers. The people, architecture, routines, and culture of SEKISUI KYDEX are specifically designed to take us to new places, because there are no old roads to new destinations,” said Cort.
The future of SEKISUI KYDEX is full of possibilities with product portfolio and service brand expansions that support the growing global middle class. KYDEX® Thermoplastics currently range from PVC to polycarbonate (PC) materials and high-impact performance plastics (HIPPS), and are continually expanding into new markets and applications. The appLab™ and designLab® innovation centers have officially opened. These collaborative spaces for clients and customers bring the supply chain together for rapid prototyping and to inspire colour, trim, and finish designers. Visitors explore ‘what if?’ questions and leave with tangible, actionable ideas.
SEKISUI KYDEX will continue to create new adventures for their customers, employees, and suppliers to close the gap between ideation, business development, and sustainability.
